What is CIMA

What does CIMA stand for?

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) is a worldwide professional body for management accountants. Its qualifications are internationally recognized and widely respected, giving CIMA students and members the assurance that they are associated with one of the best institutes in the field of business and management accounting.

Whether you’re planning on working in a small, medium or large enterprise, becoming a CIMA student or member would prove to be very beneficial. It prepares you for a broad spectrum of business and management related situations.

Why choose CIMA?

Here are some very good reasons why enrolling for a CIMA course or becoming a CIMA member is a great investment in your future career:

  • CIMA qualifications give you access to diverse careers in business;
  • CIMA courses give you expert knowledge in finance;
  • CIMA courses develop your decision-making skills;

  • CIMA regularly sends out notifications to its members and students via Twitter!

Why should I register as a CIMA student?

It is very important that you register as a Student Member of the CIMA and that you register for your exams BEFORE the exam registration closing date. If you are not a Student Member of the CIMA, your registration for the exam will not be accepted. Registration can be done online. Check with your CIMA course provider for more details.

How do I become a CIMA member?

Once you have successfully completed the Professional Qualification and obtained three years of relevant practical experience, you are allowed to apply for CIMA membership. This is a great honour and will certainly distinguish you from other managers and accountants. The moment your registration has been approved by CIMA, you can use the letters ACMA after your name. This indicates that you’re a recognised Associate Chartered Management Accountant.
